Schools must improve the way they deal with complaints about bullying, England’s Children’s Commissioner says.

Sir Al Aynsley-Green says all disputes must be settled fairly, supportively and robustly.

It follows complaints by parents of shortcomings in the system for resolving such matters.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families said schools should ensure children and their parents feel their complaints are taken seriously.

The Children’s Commissioner commends the focus of anti-bullying policy in many schools but says there is evidence flaws in the complaints procedure.

Families who have taken unresolved bullying disputes through the system say it lacks transparency, accountability and effective redress for all those involved.

Sir Al said early resolution of complaints was crucial.

News Articles on Natural Learning and Unschooling are less frequently published or submitted than I, as site administrator would like to see, so articles such as this one, though not being about Natural Learning or Unschooling specifically, they do provide an increasing knowlege od why schools are failing and why increasing numbers of parents are choosing alternatives to forced schooling.

What would be good is for school advocates to recognize that it is the structure they have created with forced schooling, which itself is one of the major root causes of bullying. That "great socialization" that anti homeschooling people talk about is in actuality not much different than prison to the kids within them, and they learn to "socialize" in much the same way as prisoners do.

In other words bullying goes with the territory, forced schooling.
